Willkommen Elder Popp and Elder Ustach

We are excited to have Elders in Forst!
Elder Popp is from Las Vegas, Nevada.  He raced motorcross for 12 years and enjoys volleyball.  He has 5 brothers.  He speaks excellent German.
Elder Ustach is from Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  He has 3 sisters, 1 brother-in-law, and a cute niece and nephew.  He loves Preaching the Gospel, baseball, video games and fixing cars.
Thank you parents for raising faithful, obedient, and great missionaries to serve in our District!

P-Day  Monday January 21, 2013
We missed the Forst Elders--they were working!
After a Mexican lunch, history lesson from Elder Bauman, a scripture study on Christ's walk from Herod's Palace to Golgotha we ventured into the freezing cold to see old town Görlitz and the Heiliges Grab or Holy Tomb.

The Judgement Stairs with a Statue of Justice with no blindfold.  Görlitz wanted people to think their judgements were fair.

Görlitz is famous for it's architecture.

The Biblical House with panels depicted from the Bible.
 The Red Door

Heiliges Grab or Holy Tomb
In Görlitz a man needed to do penance for his sin. In the 1500,s  he went to Jerusalem came back and created the Heiliges Grab (Holy Tomb)  The chapels were built between 1481 and 1504 and are replicas of churches that were in Jerusalem at the time of the Crusades.  The smaller replica of Jesus' tomb is the only replica in the world today.  This is what the crusaders would have seen and were fighting to preserve when they invaded the Holy Land to redeem Jerusalem, the Holy City from Islam.  There is also a copy of the chapel which was on the place where they thought Jesus' cross had been on Golgotha.  The large Peter - Paul Cathedral in Görlitz represents Pilot's palace.  The walk from there to Heiliges Grab  (Holy Tomb) is said to have the same distance and elevation change as it was when Jesus walked with his cross from Pilot's palace to Golgotha through Kidron Valley.

This Backerei is suppose to be located where Christ stumbled with the weight of the cross.

This is a replica of the chapel that was in Jerusalem.  Tradition places it over the spot of
Christ's cross which was suppose to be above Adam's grave.

The Holy Tomb replica.
